Wrestling, BET Awards Tops in Weekly Cable Nielsens

The New TNN's Monday night of wrestling and the BET Awards Show topped the week's cable ratings, according to data released by Nielsen Media Research.

For the week ended Sunday, WWE Raw Zone's 10 p.m. Monday edition topped all primetime programs on basic cable, with a 3.4 rating. Just behind was the 9 p.m. Tuesday live presentation of the annual BET Awards show. TNT and Nickelodeon each had three of the top 15 programs, the most of any network on the list. USA and TNN each had two programs, with one each from Lifetime, MTV and ESPN.

In the world of pay cable, a new episode in the final season of Sex and the City on Sunday night delivered the subcategory's highest rating, a 3.9 with 5.8 million people tuning in. The remaining top shows on pay cable were also on HBO, including The Wire (9:32 p.m. Sunday), Ellen DeGeneres: Here Now (10:01 p.m. Saturday), The Sopranos (8 p.m. Sunday) and Sex and the City (11:01 p.m. Sunday).

In syndication, Wheel of Fortune (8.3 rating, 8.8 million) remained on top in total households. Following were Jeopardy (6.8, 7.2 million); Seinfeld (6.3, 6.7 million); Friends (6, 6.4 million); Everybody Loves Raymond (5.9, 6.2 million); The Oprah Winfrey Show (5.6, 5.9 million); Seinfeld Weekend (5.5, 5.8 million); Judge Judy (4.8, 5 million); The Dr. Phil Show (4.6, 4.8 million); and Entertainment Tonight (4.5, 4.7 million).
