• Just An Online Minute... Hearst Designers Envision Claustrophobia At The Setai Fifth Avenue
Bizzi & Partners developed The Setai Fifth Avenue, a towering glass structure on 36th and 5th where, at the top, the views are bigger than breathtaking. Hearst Magazines got together with Bizzi & Partners, rounded up interior designers from House Beautiful, Town&Country, and Veranda, and styled residences reflecting "Cinema Style," channeling "Something's Gotta Give," "Six Degrees of Separation," and "Wall Street." But if you ask me, what they really channeled was "Towering Inferno" -- and my working-titled memoir-to-Lifetime-Movie "People Quagmire."
  • Just An Online Minute... Michelin Guides Star Master Chefs, Celebrate With Severed Leg
Filled up with fancy meat pieces and slabs of spread-covered crostinis from the Food Network Magazine Lounge, I headed over on foot to The Wooly. The Wooly is in The Woolworth Building and up until the invitation to celebrate the 2011 release of The Michelin Guide New York City, I had never heard of it. In my mind I saw that roundabout café thing they had in the Detroit Nordstrom that was always too tightly packed with warm bodies in red sweaters - probably because my Detroit shopping memories revolve around the holidays. At the Wooly, there were warm bodies …
  • Just An Online Minute... Do Not Tell Weight Watchers About The Food Network Magazine Lounge
When you're under the weather, only something spectacular can yank you out of those comfy pants with the elastic waist and up from under that fluffy warm blanket and toss you into the cruel harsh chilly NYC night, right? Well, all you have to do is throw some food parties at me and I'll bite. Plus, I heard somewhere that champagne is better than the flu shot. I may have heard that from myself.
  • Just An Online Minute... They Might Be Giants Of Broadcasting
I love covering The Giants of Broadcasting Luncheon because it truly is an event honoring an ancient art, a past that laid the groundwork for where we are today, but a past nonetheless. It's so easy to jump into the fast moving stream of the Internet world, online journalism, blogging, and "citizen journalism" (or untrained reporting, if you ask me) and swipe away the old dogs for being mired in an archaic rusty pool of broken media. But guess what, Internet puppies? Those old dogs sniffed this path clear for you, and while yes, the honorees are from "old school" …
  • Just An Online Minute... Disney Tangled In Unfinished Business With Tron:Legacy
Yesterday afternoon I sat in a half-filled movie theatre, watched a 30 second clip of "Secretariat," saw an exclusive 3D trailer for "Tron: Legacy," watched 21 minutes of straight-from-the-editing-room "Tron: Legacy" nerditry, and then experienced the multiple layers of editing and animation of the full-length, unfinished-to-the-sketch-level, Disney feature "Tangled." This is my job.
  • Just An Online Minute... Facebook Calls Advertising Week 2010 A Wrap
left the CollADborate party with my ears full of beatboxing and my eyes full of flipping sweaty bodies. My feet were already protesting in my not-so-comfy boots due to my "whoops wrong way" underground tour of NYC. "Thank goodness I have these gel inserts at the balls of my feet," I thanked myself, as I headed back out into the night, destination Roseland Ballroom for the Facebook Wrap Party. Except, wasn't wearing gel inserts... Yeah, those were blisters.
  • Just An Online Minute... Alright Stop! CollADborate And Listen!
This party post brought to you by AdvilPM and G2, the low-calorie replenishing beverage (not really). Last night, after sweating my face off (I have proof) at City Winery, surrounded by brewskies and breadskis, I hoofed it over to the Mr. Youth and Social Media Society tag team events "CollADboration," a party I hadn't had time to research, but a party I knew would be the type of high-energy hootenanny I would need to propel me to the end of the night. Now if only I had gotten on the correct train.
  • Just An Online Minute... Starch'n'Brew Gets Craft Beer Aficionados Buzzed And Bloated
NYC Craft Beer Week fell during Advertising Week this year, which to me qualifies it as an Advertising Week event. Especially since a lot of the breweries and eateries participating advertise and promote themselves via social media channels. Last night the Starch'n'Brew team presented "NYC Brewer's Choice," an around-the-boroughs party of craft beers paired with incredible foods, all contained in the wooden walls of one of my favorite spots, City Winery.
