Home Theater Sales Booming In 2011

  • USA Today, Wednesday, January 5, 2011 10:15 AM
Revenue from projectors, games and such for homes is heading to $421 million in 2011 from $406 million last year, according to the Consumer Electronics Association, which is holding its own mega-hit this week in Vegas -- where Marketing Daily's Aaron Baar is stationed.

Home theater products include sound and display systems, players, media storage devices, and theater-in-a-box systems.

Berkline, which makes home theater recliners, enjoyed double-digit growth last year after 15 years. The chairs cost between $600 and $1,000. Cup holders included, presumably. The Super Bowl is the major driver of HDTV sales and sales of home theater furniture are also on the shopping list when people shell out for the big screens. La-Z-Boy says home theater growth has increased demand for its sectional sofas with chaise lounge seating, power recline functions and, yes, cup holders.
