Conversions On RTB Exchanges Up 20% On Black Friday, 32% On Cyber Monday

Netmining has released data comparing traffic volume from Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday to the previous week. The data comes from numerous real-time bidding (RTB) exchanges, including the Facebook Exchange (FBX).

When it came to conversion rates, Cyber Monday beat out Black Friday, which shouldn't be surprising given the fact that Cyber Monday is associated with online shopping and Black Friday with brick-and-mortar. Conversions on the RTB exchanges increased 31.9% on Cyber Monday and 20.24% on Black Friday.

Netmining also looked at when shoppers were converting on Black Friday, Cyber Monday and the previous, "regular" week.

Shoppers stayed up late on Thanksgiving night to get early Black Friday deals -- about 7% of all conversions that occurred on Black Friday happened at midnight. That figure was only matched at the 10 p.m. hour, when about 7% of the day's conversions occurred again.

Retail shoppers were more eager than usual on Cyber Monday, making most of their purchases at about 10 a.m. Typically, retail shoppers do the majority of their buying between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m.
