Tinder Tests Share Button

Hoping to hatch an army of matchmakers, Tinder is testing a “share” button that lets people share user profiles with friends. The idea is that if someone sees a profile they think might be right for a friend, they can simply share it with them.

“Tapping the ‘share’ icon will allow you to send a temporary link via text to a friend, and give them the ability to swipe on the profile you shared,” Tinder notes in a new blog post. “We are testing the ability to play matchmaker.”

Adding a Snapchat-like angle to the feature, the shared profile links expire after five clicks or 72 hours.

If and when users swipe on a profile that has been shared with them, their profile may appear in their recommendations. Users can also choose to opt out of having a sharable profile by visiting Discovery Settings.

Tinder is also testing new features. Most recently, it launched a “Super Like” so users can tell complete strangers how much they super like them.

Tinder is facing more pressure to popularize its premium dating service, Plus, since parent company Match Group went public, late last year. In its first quarterly earnings since separating from IAC, Match fell short of analyst expectations.
