Evolve Media Bows #MarchForward For International Women's Day

In honor of International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, online lifestyle and enthusiast publisher Evolve Media is joining forces with The Girls’ Lounge for “March Forward,” a campaign aiming to highlight the alleged disparity in women’s wages, which women’s advocates claim are on average about one-fifth lower than men’s for equivalent work.

From March 8-11, all the images appearing on the home pages of Evolve Media’s Web properties, numbering 26 sites in all, will be obscured by 19% with the color green (as in greenbacks) to show what 81% of a given amount looks like, illustrating the average proportion of women’s wages to men’s.

The campaign also includes ads at the bottom of every Web site explaining the reasons for the campaign and directing visitors to additional material on the wage gap including studies from McKinsey and The Girls’ Lounge.

The “March Forward” images and ads are appearing on Evolve sites, including Momtastic, theFashionSpot, CraveOnline, TotalBeauty, and AfterEllen, among others. The campaign also includes a social component, with Evolve sites hosting conversations on their social media channels using the hashtags #marchforward, #wagegap, #equalpayforequalwork; and #womenshistorymonth.

Evolve’s various properties have been overhauling their Web sites and striking new partnerships at a steady clip over the last year.

In the fall, CraveOnline’s active men's lifestyle site, LiveOutdoors.com, relaunched with a revamped Web site, new editorial features and more native advertising opportunities.

In addition, Evolve’s TotallyHer struck separate ad sales representation agreements with Moguldom Media’s StyleBlazer.com and YouBeauty.com, the beauty and wellness site founded by Dr. Mehmet Oz and Dr. Michael Roizen.
