Email Data Stolen In British Airways Breach

Email addresses were among the data stolen in a breach of British Airways, the airline has disclosed.

The hackers gleaned details on roughly 380,000 credit card payments, but not travel or passport information, according to UK media reports.

The hacking of the airline's website and mobile app began on Aug. 21 and continued for two weeks, according to the reports.

Alex Cruz, chairman and chief executive of the airline, said: “We are deeply sorry for the disruption that this criminal activity has caused. We take the protection of our customers’ data very seriously.”

The airline has notified both customers and authorities, reports say.
