'What About Me?' Jon Hamm Wonders In Latest Apple TV+ Ad

The latest Apple ad pinpoints a major flaw in the company’s Apple TV+ platform: No Jon Hamm!

The former “Mad Men” actor is shown bemoaning his fate in a new ad. Alone in his living room, Hamm is talking to his Apple TV: “Hey Apple. Did I do something to offend you?” Hamm asks.

He then notes that stars including Samuel L. Jackson, Billie Eilish, Tom Holland and Chris Evans have appeared in Apple TV+ productions, but he hasn’t. “What about Jon Hamm?” he asks.

The ad, via TBWA Media Arts Lab, then shows a clip of "Ted Lasso," which Hamm criticizes. “What kind of advice is that?” Hamm asks after a clip of Jason Sudeikis (as Lasso) telling a soccer player to “be a goldfish.”

Next, Hamm places a call to Tom Hanks. Hamm first notes that he saw Hanks vehicles "Finch" and" "Greyhound." As Hamm rambles on about other stars on the platform, like Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, he gets to the end of his allotted message recording time.

The end of the ad shows Hamm rattling off more of the stars on Apple TV+, including Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Jon Stewart and the two Mahershalas (“Kinda feels like cheating!” Hamm says.)

According to reports, Apple TV+ is building an audience. Digital TV Research projects that Apple TV+ will have 36 million subscribers by 2026. At that point, Netflix is expected to have 270.7 million subscribers and Disney Plus is expected to have 284.2 million. Amazon will have 243.4 million by that point.

Apple apparently wants new content every week. The platform has more than 70 original movies and shows, none of which feature Jon Hamm.
