Disney Layoffs Round Two: ESPN, Parks Among Hardest-Hit


Disney has begun the second wave of layoffs in its plan to eliminate 7,000 jobs as part of a workforce reduction and corporate restructuring plan to cut $5.5 billion in costs, announced by CEO Bob Iger in February.

ESPN and Disney’s entertainment, parks and experiences and product division are among those expected to be most impacted by the cuts, although hourly workers at the parks will not be affected.

This round — being implemented Monday through Thursday this week — combined with last month’s layoffs, will bring the total so far to about 4,000, according to Disney.
