Kansas City Chiefs Fans Are 'Falling For Football' Postseason

The Kansas City Chiefs made it to the NFL Playoffs. And to celebrate that fact, Barkley produced a campaign that treats the postseason like a year-round holiday.

The work is running on local paid social.

To make the occasion, Barkley produced "Tis the Postseason," a short with director Parker Season and "SNL" digital shorts editor Ryan Spears. The film stars Tyler Hynes and Janel Parrish, known for their Hallmark movies.

Falling For Football” pays tribute to the intensity of the Chief's millennial fan base. It focuses on a woman who lost the "playoffs spirit" after her fiance dumped her at the alter for playoff tickets. She finds love again —  but with a rabid Chiefs fan — testing her resolve.

The short also features current and former Chiefs players Tommy Townsend, Creed Humphrey, Trey Smith, and Dante Hall. Melissa Etheridge, Rob Riggle and Donna Kelce are also in the mix.

"Football is breaking into pop culture right now like crazy — especially with Travis (Kelce) and Taylor (Swift) bringing a whole new type of fan to the party," Bryce Richardson, vice president-creative director, Barkley, told Agency Daily.

To promote its brand, the Chiefs published the Kingdom Cookbook, filled with holiday and tailgate recipes the team, players and staff enjoy.

"The idea of the playoffs as their own holiday resonated with us internally. Once we landed on that concept, we really started to dig into unique ways we could deliver that holiday feeling. It was a chance to take this entire made-for-TV movie genre and apply a Chiefs twist,” Lara Krug, chief marketing officer for the Chiefs, explained to AD.

The Chiefs beat the Miami Dolphins and will play the winner of the Pittsburgh-Buffalo game.
