Comcast Gives Xfinity TV App Twitter Connection

There are more Twitter connections with TV networks -- this time with Comcast Corp. and its NBCUniversal unit.

As part of a broad-reaching marketing arrangement, Comcast will give its Xfinity TV app consumers a feature that will enable them to instantly access TV shows directly from a Tweet.

Twitter social media feeds will allow consumers to “tune in” to those programs with the click of a button. The feature, called “See It," will debut in November with shows from NBCUniversal’s networks.

In addition -- as a number of other TV networks have already done -- NBCUniversal will join Twitter’s ‘Amplify’ program. The Amplify embeds sponsored, real-time video clips in tweets, all to foster higher TV viewer awareness. As part of this, NBCUniversal’s advertising clients can expand their TV and digital sponsorships to Twitter through Twitter’s Amplify program.

This means all NBCUniversal’s businesses, two broadcast networks, Spanish- and English-language, 17 cable networks and more than 50 digital properties can extend the reach of advertising campaigns and sponsorships.

Comcast and Twitter are also already exploring additional opportunities to integrate social TV conversations into Comcast’s X1 entertainment operating system
