NBCUniversal is partnering with Telemundo, an NBCU property, to deliver entertainment news content to the U.S. Hispanic audience through branded “Access Hollywood” segments on
Telemundo’s “Al Rojo Vivo con María Celeste.”
Under the terms of the deal, NBCUniversal’s domestic TV distribution division and Telemundo will create a
co-branded weekly segment called “Access Hollywood Al Rojo Vivo,” which will air every Friday on “Al Rojo Vivo con María Celeste.” Los Angeles-based entertainment
reporter Jessica Carrillo, who covered Hollywood for Telemundo’s local station KVEA, will host the regular segment.
“Al Rojo Vivo” (“Red Hot”)
covers a variety of subjects from around the world in a news magazine format, including breaking news, celebrity gossip, fashion, sports, movies, TV and social media trends, along with science and
technology as well as political issues like immigration.
This is just the latest in a series of new partnerships for entertainment news targeting U.S. Hispanics. Last year
Univision’s “Primer Impacto,” which competes with “Al Rojo Vivo,” partnered with
Variety to introduce a new short-form entertainment news roundup called
“Variety en Primer Impacto.” The 2.5-minute segment, which rounds up Hollywood entertainment news with a focus on Hispanic stars and media personalities, is available on all Univision
platforms, including broadcast, online and mobile channels.
In February, Univision and
Variety announced plans to expand their partnership with the launch of a new
Spanish-language entertainment news brand “Variety Latino – Powered by Univision.” The new brand, anchored by the VarietyLatino.com Web site, has additional distribution across
Univision's various digital channels, television networks and local stations. As part of the collaboration, Univision and
Variety hired a dedicated team of reporters for Spanish-language
entertainment news
