Southwest, Chase Surprise Essential Worker Couples With Honeymoons

Southwest Rapid Rewards Card from Chase recently surprised essential worker couples with a backyard pop-up honeymoon.

The “Honeymoon for Heroes” campaign also included giving out 1 million Rapid Rewards Points.

In partnership with Brides.com, Chase and Southwest created unique honeymoon experiences for five essential worker couples whose weddings and honeymoons were postponed due to COVID-19.

The events closely resembled their original plans, with couples enjoying Sonoma Valley-like scenes, decor reminiscent of a Caribbean oasis and camper-style setups.

Chase and Southwest took the time to get to know each couple over the past few months, so that they could design a pop-up backyard honeymoon experience that felt special and personal to their relationship.

Each couple also received 200,000 Southwest Rapid Rewards points (worth $3,000) that don’t expire, so they can take their real trip (or trips), when they are ready to travel.

The couples also qualified for Southwest’s Companion Pass through end of year 2021, which allows a Rapid Rewards member’s companion to fly with them free of airline charges every time they book a flight using points.

Each of the couples will have their own in-depth feature article on Brides.com at the end of the month in a custom content piece created for Southwest Rapid Rewards and Chase.

The companies that assisted with the activation were FleishmanHillard Inc. and MAS Event + Design, L.L.C..

As part of the campaign, Chase and Southwest also conducted a survey with Brides.com of over 1,000 individuals who are planning their honeymoons. Two-thirds of couples had to change their honeymoon travel plans this year. When they are able to reschedule, three-quarters of couples plan to stick to their original destination. The most popular destination is Hawaii.
