The Emmy Awards suffered their lowest-ever ratings on Monday night, with Nielsen-estimated viewership of 5.9 million.
The Emmys and other awards shows have been hemorrhaging viewers for years now.
The Emmys pulled 21.8 million viewers back in 2000, 10.2 million in 2018 and 7.4 million in 2021, according to Nielsen.
This year’s viewership was likely also affected by the awards program’s having been shifted from its usual Sunday evening slot to Monday to avoid conflicting with NBC’s first-of-this-season “Sunday Night Football” game. But the Emmys were still up against “Monday Night Football.”
