Salesforce laid off hundreds of people on Monday. 

Reports putting the total into the thousands could not be confirmed, and apparently were inaccurate.

The company appears to be facing the same economic headwinds as other martech giants. 

 “Our sales performance process drives accountability," a company spokesperson said. "Unfortunately, that can lead to some leaving the business, and we support them through their transition.”

These are not the first layoffs this year.  Last month, Salesforce parted ways with 90 individuals -- mostly contractors in its recruiting department, shortly after its Dreamforce conference. In addition, the company reportedly has a hiring freeze in place through January 2023.  

In August, Salesforce reported Q2 revenue of $7.7 billion, up 22% YoY.

“We had a great quarter, but yet again, the dollar had an even stronger quarter and we continue to see the impact on foreign exchange and currency fluctuation on our financials,” chairman and co-CEO Marc Benioff said during an investor call.
