In the midst of a full-fledged rebranding effort, X, formerly Twitter, has renamed TweetDeck -- the social-media platform's tweet management and scheduling interface –– “XPro.” The company’s TweetDeck page on X now reads, “a new & improved Pro is now here.”
At the start of July, Twitter updated TweetDeck, which it called “TweetDeck Preview,” and placed it behind a paywall, effectively promising that the previously free feature would only be available to XBlue subscribers.
The upgrade includes an updated tweet composer that covers the full range of scheduled tweet functionality, including GIFs, polls, videos, photos, emojis, improved advanced search filters and video docking so users can watch a video while performing other functions.
XPro will officially become an XBlue feature from this week on. The company says it is planning to add new elements to the paid-only social scheduling product that may make it more worth the money for businesses and creators who still trust the ever-evolving app.
Without further knowledge of what additional functionality X plans to bring to the subscriber feature, it is difficult to determine what effect the change will have on the company’s subscription revenue push.
