Ken's, Green Giant Utilize Corn Kid To Promote Both Brands

Adorable kids never go out of style. And they've proved successful elements in promoting food brands.

One of the most engaging is Tariq, the Corn Kid.

Green Giant utilized Tariq in its "That's Giant" spot last September. Now, the vegetable company has teamed with Ken's, a 66-year-old family-owned business, to promote the salad dressing, with Tariq, in a new ad: "Dress It Up."

The crossover brand effort is a natural sequel – and connection. Both businesses target families and share key retailers. Also, research from the American Dietetic Association found that kids increase their consumption of vegetables when ranch dressing is served as a dip.

GYK Antler produced the creative work, which runs on connected TV and paid social.

"In our new spot for Ken’s, we partnered with Corn Kid to show how, for kids, Ken’s Ranch and Green Giant Dino Veggie Tots are better together – similar to how Tariq feels about corn with butter! Tariq’s wholesome, authentic love for veggies – and the things that are delicious with veggies, like Ken’s Ranch – has made him a perfect ambassador for delivering mealtime solutions," Scott Nicholson, creative director, GYK Antler, told Agency Daily.

Tariq became a viral sensation last year, then appeared in an ad for Green Giant’s Restaurant Style Sides and Dino Veggie Tots. He parlayed that appearance into becoming Green Giant's brand ambassador. Tariq also lent his distinct voice to "Baby Shark's Big Show!" on Nickelodeon, beginning last December.

GYK Antler is the creative agency for both Ken’s Foods and Green Giant, whose parent company is B&G Foods.

The agency has also done work for the Boston Bruins, Sallie Mae, Hasbro Gaming and Visit New Hampshire.
