Earlier he served at GE Capital as head of commercial excellence, global program management and later, as head of global marketing. He led firmwide process and technology efforts across multiple disciplines and change-management strategies.

He replaces Pradeep Chelpati who left to take digital transformation role at UniCredit.

Code and Theory has recently accelerated its tech capabilities through hiring and partnerships--a recent deal with Yext will bring AI-powered solutions to clients--and Bhatia is tasked with leveraging both to further the agency’s progress.

With a staff of 2,000 globally consisting of 50% engineers and 50% creatives the agency bills itself as a “technology first” agency designed to partner with businesses to navigate the complexity of changing consumer behaviors, emerging technologies and AI.

Code and Theory CEO Michael Treff said, "Raj's extensive experience positions him as the ideal leader to guide our diverse pool of talents, whose capabilities extend beyond those found in conventional agencies. With expertise in technology, creativity and consultancy housed under one roof, we are uniquely equipped to tackle the modern challenges our clients encounter.”

Recent work from the agency includes brand overhauls for both Thompson Reuters and Volvo Trucks. It also recently won digital agency of record duties for the Star Tribune.

Other clients include Amazon, Zappos, JPMorganChase, Microsoft and the National Football League.
