London is set to form part of a planned $50m international expansion of "The New York Times." The U.S. title already has around 65 staff in London, including around 35 editorial. Under the Our Path Forward scheme, the NYT is planning to further expand its online footprint in English-speaking markets around the world.

The European Commission today approved proposed tougher data privacy laws collectively known as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and at more than 200 pages long, GDPR is one of the most wide-ranging reforms to be passed in years. They formalise concepts such as the "right to be forgotten," data portability, data breach notification and accountability.

The Telegraph has become the first media owner to offer advertisers 100% logo viewability on its site, which sees only a single ad appear on the right hand side of pages - a prime piece of real estate for advertisers. The new format replaces all commercial placements on the right hand rail, with the exception of a single rotating sticky ad.

Nearly three-quarters of content marketers do not believe brands are investing enough in video content, according to new research by the Content Marketing Association The CMA's Video Content for Engagement study found that 58% of senior-level marketers are planning to increase the proportion of marketing budgets spent on video content in the next 12 months.

Culture minister Ed Vaizey has said that rules governing how companies such as Sky and BT are allowed to advertise broadband speeds to attract customers are "misleading" and a "complete and utter joke". Under the UK advertising code companies are allowed to advertise their top speeds even if they are available to only 10% of customers.

Under Armour has replaced Adidas as the sponsor of Premier League club Southampton FC in a bid to bolster its presence in football. The Baltimore-based brand will design the Saints home and away kits from next season and will supply the club's youth academy with over 5,000 pairs of football boots.

UK advertisers spent a record GBP8.61bn on digital advertising last year, with ad spend on mobile devices driving the majority of this growth, plus ownership of connected TVs also influencing spending patterns, according to a report published today by the IAB. The figures were reveal a 16. 4% year-on-year rise in spend - the highest rate since 2008 (17.1%).

British Airways has signed up as the official airline partner of the Team GB and ParalympicsGB teams ahead of Rio 2016. In its role as official airline partner it will fly over 1,500 British athletes and their equipment back to London for a welcome reception. British Airways' support of British Olympic and Paralympic athletes stretches back to the Beijing 2008 Games.
