BHS last night (10 May) lit iconic London landmarks with the union flag bearing the slogan #SaveBHS in a guerrilla campaign led by marketing boss Tony Holdway, who declared "we do not intend to go down without a fight." The 100-foot-tall images were projected on to sites including Marble Arch and Wellington Arch as well as the department store chain's headquarters in Marylebone.

Amazon is launching a YouTube-style video service allowing its customers to post clips, widening its growing competition with Google across online video. From Tuesday, anyone with an Amazon account can upload videos they have made or own the rights to on to the company's Video Direct service.

The product, which has also been extended to Instagram today, will allow brands to target people with destinations and hotels that they have expressed an interest in. Facebook is also launching travel-specific dimensions to the ads, which means that advertisers can target people who have expressed an interest in visiting a certain destination at a particular date.

Facebook suppresses U.S. conservative political news when compiling trending articles on the site, former workers have alleged. The social network has implied that the trending section along the right-hand side of Facebook's Web site is chosen by crunching data on a story's popularity and timeliness. However, a former contractor has said the stories are often filtered by human news curators.

Google users have noticed something different about the search results being returned at the moment: they're not the iconic Google blue, but black instead. The Silicon Valley giant appears to be A/B testing black links for its search results, much to the disappointment of many users.

The i newspaper has launched in Northern Ireland for the first time today with a week of free copies. The title, which was bought by Johnston Press from previous owners The Independent in February, is being distributed to more than 1,300 retailers and will go on sale officially on 13 May.

Half of ecommerce transactions in the UK are now carried out on mobile devices, new data shows, while the iPhone has leapfrogged the iPad as the top platform for mobile purchases. Data from performance marketing tech firm Criteo found that 48.9% of ecommerce transactions in the first quarter of 2016 were on phones or tablets -- up from 43% in the same period last year.

Digital advertisers are finding it more difficult to reach Internet users in UK than in the U.S., according to a new study from advertising analytics firm AdRoll. The UK, along with many other Northern European countries including Sweden, Denmark and Norway, are 8% less likely to engage with online ads compared to the average in the U.S.
