Facebook Messenger boss David Marcus has announced the launch of the Messenger platform -- a tool that will enable developers around the world to build chat bots for the Messenger app which now has 900m users globally. Speaking at Facebook's annual developer conference F8 in San Francisco, Marcus showcased three types of "bots."

UK marketing budgets have risen in the first quarter of 2016, but uncertainty over Brexit has seen financial confidence plummet to a three-year low, research says. The latest IPA Bellwether Report, published today, shows that a net balance of 3% of companies registered an increase to budgets during the first three months of 2016. This is a rise from 0.5% in the fourth quarter of 2015.

Mecca Bingo, the gaming operator owned by Rank Group, is searching for an agency to handle its creative work. There is no incumbent and pitches are taking place this week. The process is being handled directly with no intermediary involved. St Luke's has previously worked with Mecca Bingo. It picked up the creative account in March last year.

Land Rover is broadcasting test drives live on streaming services Periscope and Facebook Live video in a move it claims is the first of its kind for the car industry. A series of test drives will be broadcast throughout April in order to allow fans around the world to see firsthand the versatility of the vehicles. Each test drive will demonstrate a Land Rover model in a different environment.

Artists may have lined up to take potshots at Spotify in recent years, but the latest industry report for the global music industry argues that it is YouTube that is not paying the piper. The report, issued by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, showed that the music industry generated $15 billion in revenue last year, a 3% rise on the previous year.

The embattled PC market has sunk to its lowest point in a decade, as sales fell for the sixth consecutive quarter. PC shipments were down 9.6% year-on-year during the first three months of 2016 to just 64.8 million units -- the first time the shipment volume has fallen below 65 million since 2007, according to Gartner. During the same period in 2013, around 76.3 million PCs were sold.

UKTV overtook Sky and Channel 5 in terms of share of commercial impacts in 2015, as its revenue rose by 13% year-on-year. According to UKTV's figures, its network of channels accounted for 9.31% of all commercial impacts in 2015, making it larger than Channel 5's portfolio of channels (9.27%) and Sky's own branded channels (9.27%).

Jeep is testing mobile display ad formats that promise better viewability and deeper engagement, driven by the belief that ads on such devices can be used for more than performance campaigns. As the reader scrolls through the content, the right-hand side element -- with branding and calls to action -- scrolls the page as well, and consequently remains in view.

Music fans can now listen to tracks uploaded by brands and publishers on Twitter's Moments service, as the social network pushes "seamless integration" with the audio platform. Twitter already supports SoundCloud posts within ordinary tweets via its Cards format, but this new addition means those with access to create Moments will be able to share entire playlists within tweets.
