Snapchat's global ad revenue is set to more than double next year to reach nearly $1bn (GBP745m), according to a report by eMarketer. The analyst has forecast that the social media platform will generate $366.69m in ad revenue this year, with that figure rocketing to $935.46m next year.

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is moving its computing from the secure military network it has used for the last decade to data centres owned by Microsoft. From today the MoD will use Microsoft's Office 365 and Azure for its computing rather than the legacy internal servers and Microsoft software that it has used since 2005.

Former editor in chief of "The Guardian" newspaper in the UK Alan Rusbridger said its predictions for ad revenues last year never materialised "because it all went to Facebook." He noted that Facebook sucked up nearly $27m of digital advertising revenue for "The Guardian" last year. Rusbridger said "The Guardian" forecast online revenues of $132m before he left in May last year.

Rupert Murdoch's 21st Century Fox has invested $6.5m (GBP4.8m) in an online car lovers' community started by the former Top Gear team. Presenters Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond, along with producer Andy Wilman, left the BBC last year and are now working on the Grand Tour for Amazon, due out this autumn.

Pernod Ricard has brushed aside growing concerns that the use of targeting advertising on social media is proving unsuccessful. The business is continuing to shift its media spend toward digital and has upped its digital across the medium in the UK from 31% to 40% year-on-year in 2016, with a chunk of this focussed on targeted ads.

The retailer will roll out 20 new concessions by Christmas, adding to the 10 that are already trading. Sainsbury's GBP1.4bn acquisition of Home Retail Group completed last week, also giving the retailer ownership of the Habitat brand. The integration means that more food shoppers can order Argos goods online and pick them up as they do their grocery shopping.

When the National Lottery launched its "I am Team GB" campaign, the goal was to boost the public's awareness of the role played by lottery funding in Team GB's success. According to the brand, awareness almost doubled, rising from 28% before the campaign to 52% after it launched.

Instagram has claimed that fashion brands are most likely to succeed on its platform, with one in three of its 500 million global users now having bought an item of clothing they have discovered while using the social network. Its latest report claims that an Instagram user interested in high street fashion checks their newsfeed 15 times a day.

Carling has launched its own Internet-connected "Beer Button," which can be attached to a fridge to allow drinkers to order directly when they are running low on stock -- much like the Amazon Dash drinkers attach the "Beer Button" wherever they keep their stash of beer and sync it with the accompanying mobile app.
