• Ant And Dec Close To Signing Three-Year Deal With ITV
    Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly are poised to sign a new GBP30m three-year "golden handcuffs" contract with ITV, as the broadcaster tries to lock in its biggest names. The hugely popular duo are set to receive about a 20% boost over the GBP25m value of their last three-year deal and extend the length of their exclusive relationship with the broadcaster to 18 years.

    Security experts are struggling to stop the spread of extremist messages on the internet despite taking down 1,000 videos a week, the Home Secretary has admitted. Amber Rudd said she was in talks with social media Web sites about setting up a new industry standard board to agree the rules setting out when sites should be taken down.

As expected, Apple has done away with the headphone socket on both iPhone models. The company also showed off a pair of wireless headphones, called AirPods, which can be purchased for an additional GBP159.
  • UK Ad Spend Growth Downgraded By Carat
    The UK ad-spend forecast has been downgraded to 5.4% for the year, down from previous expectations of 6.2%. Carat's Ad Spend report released today references the Brexit vote for the downgrade. Despite slower growth, the UK will remain the top market in Western Europe and fourth globally. Carat expects ad spend in the UK to increase 4.6% in 2017, downgraded from 5.7%.
  • TV Revenues Predicted To Be Down Ahead Of Christmas
    ITV has already warned that its revenues will be down by 5-10% in September compared with a year ago, when the Rugby World Cup gave it a fillip. However, Channel 4 is hoping its Paralympics coverage will shore up ad revenues. Media buyers have differing views. Some say October could be down by as much as 10%, but others believe it will decline only slightly.

    IPG Mediabrands has acquired Stickyeyes Group, the search and content agency, in a deal worth more than GBP20m, as it aims to strengthen its digital media division. Stickyeyes will retain its name. Chief executive Craig Chalmers, who is on an earn-out, will become its chairman.

    British Airways is understood to have appointed OgilvyOne to its UK social media account, 17 months after moving its global digital business out of the WPP agency and into SapientNitro. The win is a coup for OgilvyOne, which had previously handled both the customer loyalty and digital creative accounts. The shop lost the customer loyalty business in 2014.

    Luxury watch brand TAG Heuer has appointed Pitch to activate its new partnership with the Premier League. The brand signed a three-year sponsorship deal in April to become the "official timekeeper" of the Premier League for the coming season. Referees are now keeping time with the TAG Heuer Connected watch and fourth officials are using TAG Heuer substitution boards.
