Shares in Twitter have ended the day more than 12% lower after the company reported that its fourth-quarter losses had nearly doubled. The social networking service reported a loss of $167m (GBP133m) in the final three months of 2016, against $90m in the same period a year earlier. There were 319 million active users -- 4% up on a year earlier, but revenue from ads fell slightly to $638m.

Britvic's squash brand, Robinsons, is piloting home delivery service "Fruit Drop" in a bid to encourage UK consumers to drink more water. Five people have been arrested, accused of selling set-top boxes modified to stream subscription football matches, television channels and films for free. The sale of so-called "fully loaded Kodi boxes" has been called a "top priority" by the Federation Against Copyright Theft (Fact). Fact said it believed the suspects had made in the region of GBP250,000 selling the devices online.

A top executive at Asda's parent company has pledged greater support to the chain's recovery efforts after admitting it was slow to respond to the challenge posed by discounters in the UK. His comments raised the prospect of US-based Walmart shielding Asda, to a certain extent, from the effects of the weaker pound since the EU referendum.
