'Spice' Rack: Wieden Gets 3 Emmy Nominations

Old Spice

Advertising agency Wieden+Kennedy grabbed three Emmy nominations on Thursday -- including one for its popular Old Spice commercial "The Man Your Man Could Smell Like."

The 30-second spot, featuring an attractive man in various scenes -- in the shower and, in a tongue-in-cheek setting, aimed to appeal to women on horseback -- has garnered a huge following with some 12 million views on YouTube so far. MJZ was the production company on the spot.

The Portland, Ore.-based agency also pulled nominations for a Nike spot called "Human Chain" and another "Coke Finals" for Coca-Cola.

Other agencies/marketers were also nominated for the Emmy award for best commercial: an ad for Absolut called "Anthem" from ad production company MJZ; a Mars/Snickers spot from ad agency BBDO New York and MJZ; one from Audi, "Green Police," from ad agency Venables Bell & Partners; and Hungry Man Production Co.

The Mars/Snickers "Game" spot starring actress Betty White in a rough-and-tumble football game -- also shown in the Super Bowl -- took in 2.2 million views.

Nike's "Human Chain" spot, featuring celebrities such as Lance Armstrong in "chains" of themselves, has grabbed some 440,000 YouTube views so far.

"Anthem" from Absolut, where a group of artists around the world create art pieces that reveal the philosophy of Absolut Vodka, has taken in around 250,000 views.
