While
the top TV shows this year in terms of viewing were dominated by NFL football -- either as an individual episode such as the Super Bowl, or a series like NBC’s “Sunday Night
Football” -- it was a number of cable TV dramas that dominated the charts when it came to social media activity.
For three months from September through November, Nielsen SocialGuide
says five of the top 10 shows were cable TV shows when it came to their average unique audience.
The top two shows were from AMC: “Breaking Bad,” with a 6.03 million average
unique audience and “The Walking Dead” at 4.89 million. FX’s “American Horror Story: Coven” was next at 2.93 million.
The two best-performing broadcast network
series were from ABC: the rising drama “Scandal” at 2.31 million; and the longtime celebrity dance competition show, “Dancing with the Stars,” at 2.22 million.
NBC
made the list with “The Voice” in sixth place, at 2.13 million. Two Fox shows were next: “Glee” at 2.05 million and “The X Factor” with 1.8 million.
MTV
had the last two spots on the top 10 list: “Catfish: The TV Show” at 1.77 million and “Awkward” at 1.47 million
