Meta-Verified Subscription Offering Will Expand Globally In Coming Months

After ongoing rollouts of its verified subscription offering in select countries across the world, Meta has announced that it is expanding Meta Verified to users in Latin America this week, followed by full global availability in the coming months.

The Meta Verified subscription package offers paying users a verified blue checkmark on Facebook and Instagram, plus increased visibility and reach, access to dedicated account support and other exclusive features for a monthly cost of $11.99 or $14.99.

“We've heard positive feedback from creators in our initial tests and continue to gather input about what's most valuable for subscribers,” Meta wrote in a blog post. “We'll continue to evolve Meta Verified based on these learnings and explore new features and benefits that create more value for subscribers.”

The subscription's coming global expansion marks another step in Meta's long-term plan of making the offering helpful for creators, businesses and the greater Facebook and Instagram community who want to trust that the accounts they interact with are authentic and legitimate.

Twitter was the first app to sell blue checkmarks to its users in order to combat bots, spam accounts and ensure true identities on its platform. Under Elon Musk's leadership, the subscription model has also been used to boost revenue, although at this time only 0.3% of Twitter users are paying for the subscription.

At this point, Meta Verified is available in the United States, Canada, The United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, India, Brazil and very soon, Latin America.
