Despite acknowledging improvements to the global economy, WPP says it is unlikely its clients will break the bank on ad spend in 2015. WPP chief executive Martin Sorrell said. "Although clients may be more confident than they were in September 2008 post-Lehman, with stronger balance sheets, sub-trend global GDP growth at around 3.0-3.5% real and 5.0-5.5% nominal, combined with these levels of uncertainty and strengthened corporate governance scrutiny, make them unwilling to take further risks," he explained.

It claims its print success is due to a "sweet spot" of younger kids who like having their own physical newspaper, despite the fact that the majority of print newspapers are struggling to stay afloat. The publication, which launched in 2006, saw a 48% increase in profit year-on-year to 2014 after seeing 42% growth the year prior, according to the company.

WPP chief executive Sir Martin Sorrell has described the UK general election as a no-win choice between Tory uncertainty over Europe and Labour "bashing business". Sorrell said the 7 May election was a so-called "Morton's fork" -- named after a 15th century Archbishop of Canterbury -- in which neither outcome was satisfactory and would "crimp" the UK economy. Sorrell said: "It's difficult. You've got the Europe referendum on one side and then Labour having a go at business or bashing business on the other."
