Trying to fit everything into 140 characters can be a frustrating experience. But as of today, any media included in a tweet won't count toward the limit. So any GIFs, videos or photos you include in a tweet won't cut into your allowance. What's more, any "@" replies won't count toward the 140 limit either. The social network tweeted the change on Monday evening.

koda UK has appointed longstanding VW Group marketer Kirsten Stagg as its new head of marketing. Starting on 17 October, Stagg takes over from Ashley Andrew, who only joined koda in January, but left last month to become UK managing director at FCA Fiat Chrysler.

Uber has begun mapping the UK's roads as it aims to improve its pick-up and drop-off service across the country. The company has begun gathering data in London in a project led by former Google Maps boss Brian McClendon. It has already collected mapping information from the U.S and Mexico, and is likely to begin spreading to other cities in the UK in the near future.

L'Oreal has signed up five influencers to create its own "beauty squad," which has a combined reach of 5.5 million. It will be revealing the brand's latest products, creating "fun and engaging" content as well as attending key beauty events including London Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week and Cannes Film Festival.

Investors need to take a long-term view when backing new tech start-ups in the UK, according to leading fund manager Neil Woodford, speaking as part of the BBC's Tech Talent coverage. He says small companies are not receiving the funding required to grow. "We have been appallingly bad at giving those minnows the long-term capital they need," said Woodford.

'The X Factor' and 'Britain's Got Talent' will remain on screen until at least 2019 after ITV announced a new three-year deal for both shows. The announcement comes after talent show The X Factor returned last month with its lowest launch ratings in 10 years -- despite a major overhaul by Simon Cowell.
