Google has released its Global State of Play report for video and has found that there are significant disparities in how serious the issues of ad fraud and viewability are, depending on what exchanges are being used and in what market the ads are delivered. For marketers hoping automation will be a panacea news that more vigilance is evaluation is needed will be frustrating.

JCDecaux is currently in the process of rolling out 1,000 new HD digital screens in London after winning Transport for London's bus shelter contract last year.

Pokemon Go is now available to download in the UK, making the country the fifth place worldwide where the wildly popular augmented reality game is officially available. The international release of the mobile game that lets users catch Pokemon in real life had been delayed following an unexpectedly high volume of downloads in the US, Australia and New Zealand which caused it to crash.

As Thomson prepares to rebrand to TUI in the UK over the next 18 months, the travel company is hoping to make a break with the past by scrapping travel brochures and instead looking to provide richer content in store through virtual reality and artificial intelligence. The Thomson rebrand will take place towards the end of 2017, as TUI aims to become a global brand.

Sky is to offer Ultra HD channels to viewers - offering the Premier League and other top TV in a picture quality more than four times the normal crispness. Subscribers to the broadcasters' Sky Q Silver will be given 4K TV from 13 August. That will mean that the service is ready for the beginning of the Premier League. The broadcaster will also offer 70 films in the first year of the format.

The advertising holding company reported earnings per share of $1.36, with worldwide revenue increasing year on year by 2.1% to $3.88bn. The 3.3% organic growth in the UK compared to 4.3% in the Euro markets, 3.2% in North America, 4.5% in Asia-Pacific and 1.7% in Latin America. Organic revenue declined in the Middle East and Africa by 1.2% compared to the same quarter in 2015.

The BBC News channel and the World News service face 10% cost cuts after the corporation decided against merging the two operations. Addressing staff on Thursday morning, BBC News boss James Harding said both channels would be expected to find significant savings. It's understood the 10% will be made up from editorial budgets and does not refer to wider costs.

Home Office Minister Karen Bradley has been named as the new culture secretary in Theresa May's first cabinet, succeeding John Whittingdale. Bradley, a former chartered accountant who cited Michael Howard as an early inspiration, arrived in Downing Street on Thursday to be given the new role by May in her first full day as Prime Minister.

Arena Media has scooped Universal Music Group's estimated GBP10m UK media account - a sign of the influence of Vincent Bollore, the major shareholder in both companies. MediaCom had handled Universal for 32 years and it is thought that UK executives at the world's biggest music company had been happy with their relationship with the WPP agency.

Facebook has hired Dare chief executive Leigh Thomas as EMEA director of global client partnerships, in its latest assault on agencies' senior ranks. At Facebook, Thomas will be tasked with leading an EMEA team to enable clients and their agencies to engage effectively with the platform. She will report to Will Platt-Higgins, vice-president of global client partnerships.
