The tech giants face a new form of taxation in the EU, the BBC reports. The figure is expected to be 3% of sales. This would circumvent schemes which divert huge revenues streams to areas of very low taxation or see a parent company charge an EU subsidiary a massive fee for using its name, so profit is mostly wiped out for tax purposes.

"Press Gazette" is reporting that the Government has won a battle to remove clauses from the Data Protection Bill that would have made publishers responsible for both sides' legal fees, even if they won court action over data protection. However, the site warns that Labour is expected to table amendments to try and reverse the removal of the controversial clauses.
