• Asset Deal Reveals Google's Xbox Strategy
    Potentially aiding its set-top-box strategy, Google has reportedly acquired the assets of defunct video-game company Green Throttle Games. “Sources close to the situation report that the Green Throttle Games acquisition is a clear signal that Google [is] looking at anchoring its set-top TV box -- rumored at the end of last year to be coming in the first half of 2014 -- around games,” PandoDaily reports.

    Disney is reportedly eyeing Maker Studios for upwards of $500 million. Regarding the deal, Re/Code writes: “If it goes through, it would be by far the biggest bet by a traditional media company in a company built on top of YouTube.” By its own count, Maker generates 5.5 billion video views a month, the vast majority of which occur on YouTube.
