• Maker Studios A Smaller Big Deal Than It Could Have Been
    In 2014, Disney paid $500 million for Maker Studios and said if Maker hit certain targets by the end of 2015, it would pay up to another $450 million. It appears Maker won't quite make it. 
  • Reuters Launches 'Partner Marketplace' For Premium Content
     Reuters is launching  the Reuters Partner Marketplace, it said, giving clients access to what seems like "back of the book" premium video content from exclusive partners. Subscribers will be able to access fully-licensed video content from specialist providers including Next Media Animation, Hollywood.TV and Rumble.  It will range from animated news content, celebrity entertainment news, science, technology and viral videos.
  • New Samsung Phones Have Live Stream Feature
     Samsung announced a Periscope-like live video service called Live Broadcast. A user can shoot video with the new Galaxy S6 Edge Plus or Galaxy Note 5 to stream video live to another phone, tablet, or desktop computer. The broadcast stream can go out to an individual, a group of contacts, or  YouTube Live.
  • Firetalk Will Live Stream 'Young Turks'
    Firetalk teamed up with the Young Turks to provide  interactivity for the live stream of the long-standing progressive political program.  Firetalk will be simulcasting the Young Turk’s talk show featuring founder Cenk Uygur twice a week, giving viewers a chance to chat with the hosts and other viewers during the show.
  • Variety Goes To Court, Worried About Relativity Contract
    Relativity Media, which has declared bankruptcy, has a deal to produce films for Netflix. So far, it's completed two this year and in papers  filed  in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Manhattan Wednesday afternoon, Netflix says it has concerns about Relativity being able to deliver the minimum number of films a year called for in its contract. Relativity's contract runs to 2018. 
  • 'Joe Dirt' Gets Under Crackle Viewers' Skin
    Within the first five days of its release on July 16, “Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser,” got over one million streams, and then over two million within the first two and a half weeks. By some measures, it's more successful than the original "Joe Dirt" cult film released theatrically in 2001. 
  • Here Are The Nominees For This Year's Streamys
     Snapchat’s first original scripted series, "SnapperHero" received a surprising six nominations. "Epic Rap Battles of History" and "Video Game High School" got four each.
