Bauer Media Acquires Digital Radio Station

The takeover sees Planet Rock joining Bauer’s growing portfolio of national radio brands joining the likes of Kiss, heat, Q, Kerrang!, The Hits and Smash Hits. Planet Rock was put up for sale in September last year by owner Malcolm Bluemel after it reportedly chalked up losses of around £300,000 a year. Bluemel had purchased the station in 2008 from GCap Media and invested £3 million of his own money into the station but failed to make it profitable.
