Coffee-mate Taps 'Bachelorette' Couple To Thank Surprised Night Shift Workers

Nestlé's Coffee-mate has tapped Trista and Ryan Sutter, of "The Bachelorette" fame, to host a holiday video in which night-shift workers are thanked with a surprise coffee break and gifts.

The three-minute video, posted on YouTube on Dec. 2, shows the couple (who got married after meeting on the first season of "The Bachelorette" in 2003) visiting a children's hospital, an animal rescue center and other locations in the middle of the night, in an RV that's unmarked and dark on its exterior but festooned with holiday lights inside. They sneak inside the buildings and leave notes inviting workers outside for a "thank you" coffee break.

When the intrigued workers knock on the RV door, the Sutters usher them inside, offer them coffee with their choice of Coffee-mate flavors (including seasonal varieties like peppermint mocha and pumpkin spice), and thank them for their contributions with custom-chosen gifts.

A man who has served as an oncology RN for more than 40 years at the children's hospital and loves to fish in his time off is given a fishing trip; two paramedics get front-row seats to a sports event; an animal rescue worker who is running a marathon for the cause gets a pair of sneakers and a spa visit; and a security guard receives a family trip to New York to visit a cousin.

The Sutters were chosen as the video's host in part because Ryan does night shifts as part of his 48-hour week as a firefighter in Vail, Colo.

The night-shift video is being shared on the brand's owned media channels, and is also being supported by paid exposure on social media.

The video, produced by Cutaway Creative, is an extension of a seasonal ad campaign called "Make It Home," which promotes Coffee-mate's existing seasonal flavors and its new Nestlé Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie and Snickerdoodle Coffee-mate flavors. The campaign, which also includes a holiday kitchen sweepstakes with a grand prize of $25,000 toward a Martha Stewart Living kitchen makeover, is featured on Tumblr, among other channels. A seasonal-flavors TV spot is also currently airing.
