ProtonMail, the Switzerland-based email service firm, has introduced the ProtonMail Bridge, a platform to support encrypted email on Microsoft Outlook, Thunderbird and Apple Mail.
The firm claims that this product eliminates the need for end-user retraining, and the installation of plugins or extensions.
ProtonMail co-founder Andy Yen argues that “this means email encryption is no longer limited to just the tech savvy and advanced users.”
The ProtonMail Bridge facilitates encryption and decryption in a middleware between email servers and the user’s email client, the firm says.
The service also allows the full-text search of encrypted messages, the company says.
ProtonMail contends that this form of encrypted email is replacing legacy email.
