NBCUniversal’s Peacock is the first platform to use a new content discovery feature that ties into Vizio’s WatchFree+ free, ad-supported/FAST streaming app and smart TV interface.
The Vizio feature, Content Connections, allows users to switch directly from WatchFree+ to streaming subscription services.
Peacock is using it to let Vizio users preview episodes of 16 popular Peacock titles. As they watch, the platform delivers “intuitive” messages directing them to the Peacock subscription video-on-demand/SVOD streaming app. Those who have an account or sign up on the spot can then explore or stream the app’s paid content.
“Providing opportunities for consumers to discover Peacock’s programming is integral to our continued growth,” stated Annie Luo, executive vice president, global partnerships and strategic development at Peacock. “As a brand, we’re always looking for innovative partnerships that can help audiences build a stronger connection to our content, and through Vizio’s Content Connections we can both introduce viewers to our series and give them a way to connect to Peacock with ease.”
The preview experience, located in the Movies & TV category of the WatchFree+ programming guide, will be available for three weeks.
The preview episodes come from series including “A Friend of the Family,” “Bel-Air,” “Below Deck Adventure,” “Below Deck Down Under,” “Below Deck Mediterranean,” “Dr. Death,” “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls’ Trip,” “The Traitors” and “Vanderpump Rules,” among others.
