EV Startup Rivian Partners With SiriusXM

SiriusXM and electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian are partnering.

The deal brings SiriusXM’s audio entertainment experience to both new and existing Rivian R1T and R1S models in the U.S. in 2024.

The collaboration directly integrates SiriusXM into Rivian’s in-vehicle software. Upon launch next year, all new and existing Rivian owners will be able to activate a three-month SiriusXM trial subscription directly on their vehicle’s center display.

“Rivian is a disrupter in the automotive industry and has an exceptional lineup of software-forward electric vehicles that deliver to their owners a truly tailored experience in a variety of different ways,” says Joe Verbrugge, chief commercial officer, SiriusXM, in a release.

Rivian is committed to enhancing the driving experience and evolving vehicles over time through software updates, said Wassym Bensaid, senior vice president, software development at Rivian.

“We collaborated with SiriusXM on a digital integration that provides a seamless user experience and will be available to owners with a simple over-the-air update,” Bensaid says in a release.

The trial subscription will include SiriusXM’s full lineup of varied content, plus access to SiriusXM outside the vehicle on the SiriusXM app and on connected devices and speakers in the home.

Rivian joins a long list of automotive brands with agreements with SiriusXM, including Mercedes-Benz, Buick, Chevrolet, GMC, Ram, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Audi, BMW, Volkswagen, Maserati, Porsche and Nissan.

General Motors was the first automaker to begin factory-installing SiriusXM on select Cadillac models in 2002.
