• Programmatic Pioneers Make A Fortune From Exchange Lab Sale To Group M
    The founders of The Exchange Lab are set to make multimillion-pound fortunes after selling their programmatic marketing company to WPP's Group M. Tim Webster, 38, owned 35% and Aitken Investments, which is believed to be controlled by fellow co-founder James Aitken, had about 31% of The Exchange Lab. The sale price was undisclosed, but revenues last year doubled to GBP21.4 million, according to Companies House. Typically, such a company is valued at one or two times annual revenues.

    The future of ITV is once again up in the air rather than on it after renewed speculation that another U.S. cable company is being linked with a bid for Britain's largest terrestrial commercial broadcaster. Comcast, the owner of NBCUniversal, is reported to be weighing a bid, with reports that the two have held talks. It is the second time this year that a U.S. media company has been linked with ITV -- Liberty Global, the cable company that owns Virgin Media, has built a 9.9% stake. ITV would not comment.

    Twitter is doubling down on its efforts to engage more with the gaming community with the hire of Rodrigo Velloso as its first director of gaming partnerships. In September, the platform poached Velloso from Google, where he was director of gaming content at YouTube. He now reports to Kirstine Stewart, head of North American media at Twitter.

    With just over a week to go until the big day, Aldi has produced the overall most effective Christmas campaign as M&S sees a late surge in consumer buzz. Topping a list of 13 retailers, Aldi achieved a score of 256 points for its festive marketing activity between the period of 2 November to 17 December, according to the study by Waggener Edstrom (WE), which assesses the social media impact of each retailer's Christmas advertising.

    Despite the rapid growth of mobile advertising, up to 65% of the UK's most senior marketers find it "quite hard" to show a clear return on investment when it comes to their mobile ad spend. In a study of 100 senior UK marketers, Opera Mediaworks and Censuswide also found that 40% of the senior marketers, who possess more than 11 years experience, are "not comfortable" using mobile as an advertising channel.

  • Facebook And Deezer Form Music-Sharing Partnership
    Facebook has announced a partnership with music service, Deezer, in a deal that will allow the social network giant to integrate music sharing into the news feed. Termed Music Stories, the changes will allow Deezer users to discover and share 30-second clips of music directly onto their Facebook feeds on the Web and iOS app.
