Ad blocking became almost as popular on mobile devices as on desktops and laptops at the end of last year, just months after Apple introduced the ability to block ads on iPhones and iPads. Data from the last three months of 2015 from GlobalWebIndex recorded a rise in those reporting they had used an ad blocker on mobile devices within the last month, compared to 38% on computers, which was also up by 10 percentage points on previous quarters.

The amount of time children spend in front of a television screen has been declining steadily from a high of three hours in 2000/2001 and was at 2.3 hours last year. However, time online has seen a huge surge, up 50% from two hours last year.

Reports surfaced last week that Amazon was in secret talks with grocery delivery service Ocado. Does the speculation foreshadow an imminent UK launch of AmazonFresh? For some industry analysts, a deal between Ocado and Amazon would be of huge benefit to the latter. The 38% share price plunge since his return, combined with a parallel decline at Square -- the mobile payments company where he is also chief executive -- has even seen him briefly relegated from billionairedom to the ranks of the merely extremely wealthy.
