Kayak.co.uk, the travel search engine, is to sponsor Channel 4's coverage of Formula One as the broadcaster revealeded its first full ad yesterday. Channel 4's first race coverage will be from Bahrain on 2 April and 3 April. Idents will feature across the ten live races, including practice, qualifying and online activity for watching live and across All 4, the video-on-demand platform. The season kicks off on 19 March, and Channel 4 will also show the highlights of the 21 races.

Mashable has announced that it is officially setting up shop in Paris with some help from French media company France24. It marks the first time that Mashable will publish its news in a language other than English. The French version of the site will include both global stories as well as "unique stories and multimedia created expressly for Mashable by France24 journalists based in Paris."

There are signs of hope at Tesco after the retailer's sales fell by 0.8% year-on-year in the 12 weeks to 28 February, an improvement on the 1.6% fall in the 12 weeks to 31 January. The latest figures from Kantar show that Tesco's performance reflected more positive news in the wider grocery sector, in which sales were up 0.5% year-on-year. Aldi grew its sales by 15.1% year-on-year, while Lidl's were up 19%.

Easyjet's CEO Carolyn McCall says women must be confident and not afraid to ask difficult questions in order to obtain a place at the boardroom table. The budget airline's CEO, who was a speaker at the Omniwomen UK Leadership Summit Tuesday held for International Women's Day and aims to inspire senior women in business, said that while more women are steadily reaching senior positions, the pace of change is "very slow."

The average tenure of chief marketing officers in the U.S. has dropped for the first time in a decade, meaning marketers now have to work even harder to prove their worth to the board. According to a study by executive search consulting firm Spencer Stuart, the average tenure for chief marketing officers (CMOs) of U.S. consumer brand companies dropped from 48 months to 44 months between 2014 and 2015. While the drop is relatively small, it is significant as it represents the first decline in average tenure in 10 years.

Public Health England has launched its first brand since introducing Change4Life eight years ago, with 'One You' aiming to help middle aged adults avoid future diseases caused by modern life. It is the government health body's first ever nationwide campaign to address preventable disease in adults. The GBP6m will run for seven weeks and will be supported by TV, digital, OOH, PR and social media activity. It will also be amplified by nationwide partner support.

So how does he expect his brash style to be received by Brits when he brings VaynerMedia, his advertising and marketing agency, to London this year? "I've spent zero minutes, zero seconds on the competitive landscape because of the level of disrespect I have for my [UK] competitors . . . The UK market is going to be taken aback."

ITN has unveiled an ambitious expansion strategy to reduce its dependence on news bulletins and boost revenues by 50% in five years. John Hardie, chief executive of the multimedia company that produces news for ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5, unveiled plans to boost production revenues and reduce dependence on the broadcast news operation for which ITN is best known. Under the aggressive plan he explained to staff on Monday, ITN Productions, which makes commercials and TV programmes.

Chris Hawken, the marketer behind transforming perceptions of Skoda from ridicule to cool, has some serious words for the automotive industry. He is now group marketing director at Subaru and Isuzu UK: "I'm a strong believer in great marketing being able to lift brands. But, at the moment, we're in a terrible situation where it's extremely hard for marketing to lift some car brands. The UK market is increasingly being controlled and stifled by central marketing departments.... who don't understand our mentality."

Facebook announced yesterday the launch of video ad serving, which it claims makes it easier for brands to tell their stories across devices within the Atlas platform. The social network claims that its previous video experiments have demonstrated that native video ad formats are the best-performing on its network, with mobile an increasingly important platform for advertisers.
