• Amazon Steps Up Its Game Overseas
    In the UK and Germany, Amazon will rebrand its LoveFilm pay service as Prime Instant Videos and add other features that are similar to what it offers in the United States.
  • IT Alert! Streaming of USA-Canada Hockey Game at Noon Friday May Cause Office Headaches
    NBC says it's concerned that so many Americans at work streaming the semi-final game between Canada and USA (prelims at 11:30 am, game at noon today) may overload office networks, slowing streams or making it impossible for other work to be done online.   • Jordan Levin Heads for Xbox
    Microsoft confirmed that it has namedJordan Levin as the new executive VP at Xbox Entertainment Studios, reporting to Nancy Tellem. He was the former CEO of the WB Network; she formerly headed programming at CBS. More recently, Levin was CEO of Generate, a digital media company acquired by Alloy Digital in 2012.

    After WFAA sportscaster Dale Hansen in Dallas gave a strong commentary said about gay football player Michael Sam and his chances in the pros (explaining that the NFL doesn't flinch at wife beaters etc.) it went viral, but not on the station's YouTube page. Should the station care that another YouTuber got the views?
  • Comcast Merger Interrupts Netflix Set-Top Negotiations with TWC
    Netflix's effort to integrate itself on Time Warner Cable set-top boxes is on hold now that the TWC is being sold to Comcast, Bloomberg is reporting.

    In February 2014, ValueClick changed its name to Conversant Inc . The new stock symbol of the company is now CNVR (formerly VCLK).     Netflix acquired U.S. streaming rights to the first 10 episodes of “Crossing Lines,” a crime show that aired on Sunday nights last summer on NBC. Its international theme makes it interesting to overseas buyers, too.

    Jimmy Fallon's success also will be measured by popularity of his online presence. His former NBC show had over 2 million subscribers  on YouTube and more than 460 million total views.
