  • 'Love' Just Put The X In Netflix
    "Love," Gaspar Noe's 3-D porn film is a little less....um, explosive...in 2-D but may be the most explicit feature ever on Netflix, says Decider's Olivia Armstrong. She also says some of the scenes and circumstances might be off-putting enough that unless couples know exactly where each other's kink-o-meters are set, they might want to watch it alone. But alone or together, she says, keep the shades closed.
  • YouTube Aims To Improve Copyright Violation Detection
    YouTube is appointing a team to improve its copyright violation detection system, and minimize related mistakes. “YouTube is also planning to ‘roll out some initiatives in the coming months that will help strengthen communications between creators and YouTube support,’” 9To5Google reports, citing comments from the search giant. “Specifically, they will increase the transparency into the status of monetization claims.”
  • German Facebook Ad Viewers Are Patient
    According to Facebook data, 51% of German Facebook viewers will watch at least half a video and one quarter will watch it all. In the U.S., by comparison, 54% will watch less than a quarter of the video.

    On Thursday, Amazon released the first episode of Season 3 of “The Fashion Fund,” a reality show series produced by Conde Nast Entertainment that follows top fashion design contestants as they compete for a prize. Anyone who visits Amazon.com can see it for free, as long as they'll endure some mesages. Might this be the start of something. . . commercial?
  • YouTube Adds Blurring Feature
    YouTube this week debuted a new blurring tool, which gives content creators custom blurring effects. “The new functionality is an enhancement of the face blurring feature that YouTube has had for a few years now,” 9To5Google notes. “The new feature allows blurring effects to be applied to any object in a video, including moving objects like Google shows in the example below.”  
  • Amazon Breaks Into Ad-Supported Content
    Amazon just unveiled an original video series that will be supported by ads, and live outside of its Prime service. “On Thursday, the company released the first episode of Season 3 of ‘The Fashion Fund,’ a 10-episode reality show series produced by Conde Nast Entertainment,” Re/code. “It could signal that the company’s increasingly powerful media business is set to create a host of exclusive ad-supported shows.”

    NPR's "Tiny Desk" concerts feature big time talent playing a mini-gig at the desk of an NPR staffer at headquarters in Washington, D.C. Fun to watch. For one song, NPR shot video of Wilco performing, at 360 degrees. 
  • Twitch Adds Chat Log Library
    Twitch is now including chat logs with previously streamed videos. “The feature, dubbed ‘Chat Replay,’ was actually developed under advisement from the creator of the ReChat browser extension … so its functionality shouldn't be all that foreign if you had that installed,” Engadget reports. It adds that the change is part of the live-broadcasting service's bigger push toward video-on-demand.
