• ABC Offers Inside Look 'Quantico' In VR:
    This Sunday, instead of just putting a Lexus into the next episode of "Quantico," ABC created a special virtual-reality segment of the program in which you and a Lexus are the stars, woven into a scene. 
  • Fullscreen Signs 5 YouTubers--That Makes 75,000
     Fullscreen, the digital media company that functions as both a multi-channel network (MCN) and a production studio has signed five digital media personalities: Kingsley, Teala Dunn, Tipsy Bartender, Catrific and Jay Alvarez. The five new additions already count 8.2 million subscribers from their YouTube channels.  Tubefilter point out Fullscreen already has 75,000 creator-partners. 
  • Emmys Adding Short Form, Digital Content Award Categories
    Starting this year, the Emmys will add new short form categories, and expand its definition of the genre to include work from digital studios like YouTube Red and Maker Studios. “The TV Academy is rolling out additional changes for the 2016 Emmys, and it's good news for streamers who deal in short form content,” The Hollywood Report writes.
  • Snapchat Snags $175M From Fidelity
     Snapchat raised $175 million from Fidelity Investments, bringing the youth-skewing vanishing-message service to more than $1.3 billion raised to date. It maintains its $16 billion valuation. The infusion is nice change but the flat valuation may be telling.
  • Katie Couric's Not Going Anywhere
    Yahoo’s announced the loss of around 1,700 jobs and a refocusing of its Website. But Katie Couric, the  “Global News Anchor,” plans to wait and see what happens to the company, a source tells the New York Daily News.
  • YouTube Partners With U.N. For Female Content Push
    As part of a year-long partnership with the United Nations, YouTube plans to appoint female content creators as “Change Ambassadors” for the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Action campaign. The Google unit has also formed a related production program. As Fast Company reports: “The Change Ambassadors will work with the UN over the next year to produce content that promotes gender equality.”

    At NewFronts and upfronts this year, observers will hea upfront participants talk about data and NewFronts players flash their better content and star power. It's a role reversal. 
  • Netflix, Amazon Compete On 'Top Gear' Version
    The Netflix deal would star former "Friends" star Matt LeBlanc going head to head with Amazon’s new motoring show headlined by former “Top Gear” co-hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. That show is supposed to debut in the fall. Can't wait. 
  • Yahoo Launches Esports Site
    The new Yahoo Esports,  under the Yahoo Sports umbrella, initially will focus coverage on five titles: Riot Games’ “League of Legends” (pictured above); Blizzard Entertainment’s “Heroes of the Storm”; Valve’s “Counter-­Strike: Global Offensive” and “Dota 2”; and Capcom’s “Street Fighter V.”
