There's a simple reason streaming services didn't show the Golden Globes telecast. NBC didn't buy streaming rights.

SoundCloud’s revenues grew 21.6% to $22 million in 2015 -- but its net losses accelerated 30.9% to $52m reports Music Business Worldwide, citing a new filing at Companies House. As such, “SoundCloud’s losses grew faster than its revenues in 2015 -- with the company now admitting that, should its subscription service flop, its funding may run dry this year,” it writes.

Last year, streaming became the primary mode of music listening among U.S. consumers, according to Nielsen. “Overall on-demand audio streams surpassed 251 billion in 2016 -- a 76 percent increase that accounts for 38 percent of the entire music consumption market,” Pitchfork writes, citing Nielsen. Plus, according to Nielsen: “The on-demand audio streaming share [of total music consumption] has now surpassed total digital sales (digital albums + digital track equivalents) for the first time in history.”

Conan O'Brien's nightly TV show will continue, but it's possible Turner will further propel his digital presence. He has 4.6 million subscribers on YouTube. 

HBO was shut out at the Golden Globes and Netflix claims the best drama and best actress awards. The biggest prizes for Amazon might have been for "Manchester by the Sea, a theatrical release: It acquired the distribution rights a year ago.

Nuvyyo, maker of the  Tablo DVR for cord cutters, is introducing a new device dubbed the Tablo Live stick at CES. It that promises free over-the-air television on pretty much any device. In addition, Nuvyyo is also introducing a DVR app for the Nvidia Shield game console, and previewing a cloud DVR for broadcast TV.

 According to one study, 76% of small and medium sized businesses in the U.S. said online video was important to their holiday marketing strategy. Of that group, 47% called video very important and 29%t said it was somewhat important.
