Apple has reportedly hired about 16 employees from Omnifone, and purchased select technology from the defunct streaming music service. “To be clear, Omnifone is not a full acquisition, and it does not merit Apple’s standard confirmation,” TechCrunch reports. “It seems like a logical conclusion that Apple would make the hires and buy the tech from a music startup to work on Apple Music-related services.”

The NFL is expanding its partnership with Google with a new VR series for YouTube and Daydream. “Produced by NFL Films, the 9-part show will offer ‘a 360-degree perspective of life’ from the point of view of players, coaches, executives, cheerleaders and fans,” Engadget reports. “While the first episode is set to debut Thanksgiving Day on the league's YouTube channel, the series won't be available inside the NFL VR app for Google's Daydream platform until ‘later this year.’”

Year-over-year, GoPro’s income cratered by 330% in the third quarter. “In total, the company lost $84 million in the past three months, which is almost twice as much as analysts predicted,” Mashable reports. “It seems like the devices are just not selling as much as they used to,” it notes. “Sales for the quarter totaled $241 million, a 40 percent decline compared to the same time last year -- and again failing to meet expectations.”

As of last summer, the service had just 1.5 million paying subscribers -- with another 1 million users signed up on a fee-free trial basis -- The Verge reports, citing sources. “Those numbers underscore just how difficult it is to convince millions of people to pay for something they’ve had free access to for over a decade,” it notes.
