    Variety says Amazon Prime has ordered two seasons of the comedy, "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" from "Gilmore Girls" creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, also the creator of "The Gilmore Girls" which recently received an updated version from the streamer. The order for "Maisel" is the first time Amazon has greenlit a multi-season deal for a series, according to Variety. (Hey, watch the pilot. Quite funny!)

    Concurrent's Paul Sweeting notes the $50 million deal Amazon made with the NFL for 10 Thursday night NFL games is just a small change transaction for both parties, but speculates both the league and Amazon might want to push games to Amazon's game app Twitch, loaded with 18-24 non-traditional fans. 
  • Is Spotify Reconsidering IPO?
    Spotify reportedly plans to go public before the end of the year -- sort of. Rather than an official IPO, “Spotify is seriously considering a direct listing, in which the company would simply register its shares on a public exchange and let them trade freely,” The Wall Street Journal reports, citing sources. “The company wouldn’t raise any new money or use underwriters to place new blocks of stock.”

  • Amazon Wins Streaming Rights To 10 NFL Games
    Taking Twitter’s place, Amazon appears to have won the right to stream 10 Thursday night National Football League games later this year. “The one-year agreement is valued at around $50 million,” The Wall Street Journal reports, citing sources. More broadly, “The online retailer … is aggressively trying to position itself as a premier source of entertainment content,” The Journal notes.
  • AdBlock Plus Buys Flattr
    Eyeo, the German company that owns AdBlock Plus acquired Flattr, a Swedish micropayment company that AdBlock Plus already works with. Flattr lets users allocate funds to specific publishers that are paid depending how much the customer visits those sites.

  • Spotify Renews Universal Music Licensing Pact
    Spotify and Universal Music Group just entered into a new licensing agreement, The Verge reports. “As part of the deal, Spotify has agreed to allow new albums from Universal artists to be restricted to its premium service for up to two weeks moving forward,” it writes. “Spotify will also pay slightly less to UMG per stream, according to sources close to the situation.”
