Christie Super PAC Campaign Is 1st To Weaponize Trump's Mugshot

While Donald Trump’s campaign is busy selling T-shirts featuring the mugshot taken of him last week at Atlanta’s Fulton County Jail, a super PAC backing Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie has become the first to use it in a derogatory way.

The 30-second spot from a campaign funded by super PAC Tell It Like It Is shows the mugshot — taken during Trump's arrest on charges stemming from attempts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia — along with other images of him, as it asks conservatives whether they’re tired of the “drama,” “distractions” and “lies,” and declares that it’s time for conservatives to win again.

The ad touts Christie’s record as a former prosecutor and governor of New Jersey — mentioning that he “convicted child pornographers” and “corrupt politicians” (but not surprisingly, not mentioning the 2013 “Bridgegate” scandal that damaged his prospects for the Republican nomination in 2016).

Christie “tells the truth and he’ll beat Joe Biden easily,” claims the ad.

The campaign, which launched on Friday, includes $400,000 in media buys across broadcast, cable and digital platforms, Tell It Like It Is said.
