• PlayStation4, Xbox One Holiday Sales Went Way Up
    PlayStation 4 and Xbox One bounced up over 94% in sales, according toGamesIndustry International. Games like Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Grand Theft Auto V and Far Cry 4 easily led the charge, with total global sales for the company during the holiday season reaching  $2.94 billion – although it was a 6.7%  decrease compared to the 2013 holiday sales period.

    The Heineken USA-owned brand announced a new online campaign called "Band of Brands" that is aimed at producing the "first-ever crowdfunded Big Game ad" by teaming with other brands. "In exchange for a small contribution, any brand can join Newcastle's team and have its logo and messaging featured in an actual Big Game spot," the brand said in a statement. They intend to buy local ad time within the game

    Verizon Chief Executive Officer Lowell McAdam sees 100 million users and tons of data about them and senses es an opportunity for Verizon to jump in feet first into the content and advertising business.  McAdam is exploring deals with AOL and other companies that are leaders in programmatic advertising, or even may seek an outright acquisition, sources tell Bloomberg News.

  • YouTube To Support 360-degree Videos
    YouTube is planning to add native support for 360-degree videos, Gizmodo reports. “That means you should eventually, theoretically be able to take all the crazy footage you're capturing with new cameras like the Ricoh Theta … and share those moments with your friends through YouTube,” the tech blog writes. “Assuming YouTube figures out a way to take the results from those rather differently shaped cameras and make them work … From what we hear, that's the goal.”
