  • Pahade to Leave Denuo
Denuo, Publicis Groupe's media innovations unit, is losing President Nick Pahade, who will leave the company next month to pursue a new position at ecommerce group GSI Commerce. Pahade declined to discuss the specifics of his new role, but he said an official announcement could be expected within a month. "I'm an entrepreneur at heart," said Pahade, who joined Denuo in 2006 after co-founding the digital ad shop Beyond Interactive (which was later bought by WPP Group). "This was an opportunity to go back and fulfill that again." Former Denuo CEO Rishad Tobaccowala, who is now chief …
  • Are Tech Stocks Cheap Yet?
Tech stocks have been slammed during the recent stock market slowdown, knocking down most of the "momentum money" powering the sector's big four: Google, Apple, Amazon and Research in Motion. The sell-off calls into question whether investors have been caught up in another tide of irrational exuberance. Analysts say the stock valuations of the aforementioned have dropped to "more appetizing levels." So when's the time to buy? Sanford C. Bernstein analyst Jeffrey Lindsay says the time to buy could be at the beginning of the second quarter. "The volatility is going down right now, and once the current …

The move is part of a broader distribution strategy for the UK-based broadcaster, which has a similar deal in place with Google's video site, YouTube. Berman will now oversee music, film and branded initiatives like MySpace Celebrity and MySpace Impact, as well as MySpaceTV. His official title is EVP, content and marketing, and he will report to CEO …
  • Hulu Discusses Beta Progress, Sets March Launch Date
Despite being an invite-only phenomenon, the joint online video venture from News Corporation and NBC Universal has "several hundred thousand users," according to CTO Eric Feng. These users have submitted "tens of thousands" of feedback messages, which helped developers tweak the user interface (Hendrickson says the search engine is much better, for example). Nearly 85 percent of the site's content is viewed at least once per day. Hulu has also tripled the amount of content on the service since its beta launch in late October, adding episodes that go back to series' first seasons. RSS feeds have been added …
  • Despite Ad Downturn, Web Will be Safe
Traditionally, a recession really hurts the advertising industry because marketers scale back spending when the economy slows. Advertising execs Maurice Levy, CEO of Publicis Groupe, and Martin Sorrell, CEO of WPP, two of the largest ad holding firms, agree that clients will eventually scale back their budgets, but not until 2009. This is partly due to three major global events in 2008: America's presidential election, the Olympics in Beijing and soccer's European Championships in Austria and Switzerland. Levy says the big-ticket events could add as much as 1 percent growth to global ad spending, off-setting any economic …
